Peper Harow X Goodwood Revival 2016

Goodwood Revival: A Vignette through Time

Every year, the Goodwood motor circuit is transformed into one of its most celebrated events: the Revival. Like stepping into a time machine, you are taken back to a world celebrating the 40s, 50s and 60s; a nostalgia of fashion, lifestyle and of course, motor cars.

This year was no less spectacular. Entering the grounds you were greeted by proud British fans reminiscing the 1966 World cup during which England, also known as the “Wingless Wonders”, beat West Germany 4-2. You could feel yourself sinking back in time with actors, models and dedicated Revival fans bringing the past to life with extravagant costumes and a never-ending atmosphere packed with props, music and vintage cars unique to this event. Every so often loud engines would resonate from above as aviators took to the skies displaying some of our greatest flying heritage.

Motorsport is at the heart of Revival celebrating the history of British racing with legendary drivers including David Coulthard, Tom Kristensen and Giedo van der Garde; as well as nail-biting races, like the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, giving us a taste of Le Mans, vintage style. But this was not exclusively racing for gown ups – our young stars also took to the roads equipped with an array of Austin pedal cars!

At Peper Harow we love everything emanating from these stylish decades. We draw inspiration from the cars, the planes and the people. Recapturing moments of this year’s Revival – like the classic Austin A35s racing at full pelt around the track with drivers including Sir Chris Hoy and Rowan Atkinson - we would recommend our uniquely British-designed Pin Polka socks for that spark of fun, colour and quintessential quirkiness.

British racing is also about elegance, like the Jaguar E-types which took to the roads over the weekend, once described as the "The most beautiful car ever made" by Enzo Ferrari. With this stature of design, we would recommend our exquisitely made Lux Taylor socks with their distinguished colour combinations and Herringbone patterns.

Competitive racing is what makes Goodwood exciting, and none more so than witnessing Formula 1 car from the early 60s racing at full speed; their elegant lines disguising powerful engines. Our red Starfall socks really capture the racing spirit, with a bright contrasting star pattern running on either side the sock.
Paying homage to the planes of the past, our Peper Harow Big Target socks are a close match to the war-fighting Spitfires; the colourful target pattern on the sole of our socks closely reflecting the military roundel design.
This year’s Revival was no doubt a memorable one, but already we look forward to 2017 where we will be once again displaying our unique array of luxury socks and leathers, fuelled by the buzz and excitement of the past.
